Manage Rooms

Rooms in ChatGPTFirewall are designed to segment and organize your interactions based on different contexts, files, or data sets. This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating and managing these rooms efficiently.

Step 1: Creating a Room

  • Locate the Sidebar: After logging in, direct your attention to the sidebar on the left side of the dashboard.

  • Initiate Room Creation: Below the button for managing uploads, you'll find the "Create Room" button. Clicking on this will reveal an input field directly beneath it.

  • Name Your Room: Enter your desired room name into the field. If the field remains empty and you press Enter or click elsewhere, no action will be taken. Once you provide a name and either press Enter or click away, the room will be created, confirmed by a toast message at the top of the screen.

Step 2: Renaming or Deleting a Room

  • Access Room Options: Next to each room name, there’s a three-dot menu. Clicking on this menu provides options to either rename or delete the room.

  • Perform Desired Action: Select "Rename" to change the room's name or "Delete" to remove the room entirely. Renaming requires you to enter a new name and confirm by pressing Enter or clicking away.

Step 3: Entering and Setting Up a Room

  • Enter a Room: By clicking on a room, you're taken into its dedicated space. Initially, you're prompted to select files for interaction.

  • Selecting Files: Click the "Select Files" button to open a modal similar to the upload modal, but here you can only choose from previously uploaded files. There’s an option to select all files at once at the top left of the list. After making your selections, confirm by clicking on the "Select" button at the bottom right of the modal.

Step 4: Interacting Within a Room

  • Initiate Interaction: Following file selection, the interface transitions to a chat-like environment, retaining the sidebar on the left and displaying the room name at the top left.

  • Customizing Interaction Settings:

    • Pseudonymizing Toggle: At the top middle, find a toggle for pseudonymizing data, crucial for later steps, particularly in the Asking Questions tutorial.

    • Room Settings: The gear icon at the top right leads to room settings, where further customizations can be made (detailed in the Changing Room Settings tutorial).

    • File Selection: Next to the settings gear, a file icon reopens the file selector modal, allowing for adjustments to the files you wish to query.

  • Chatting with Files: The bottom section houses an input box for sending queries to your selected files. For details on formulating questions, refer to the Asking Questions tutorial.

Step 5: Managing Your Sessions

  • Room Navigation: You can easily switch between different rooms, each maintaining its unique set of selected files and settings, allowing for a tailored data interaction experience in each room.
